What I do ..........

I am tasked with guiding the pastoral direction of the school. That means that I oversee the pastoral systems, review and monitor how we are doing and how we could develop. I also look after Years 7&8 and coordinate the tutors and form teachers. The patrol (house) system, rewards, sanctions, responsibilities are monitored by me. We have a whole school approach to PSHE (Learning4Life) and I run this department. Probably my most important role is monitoring the profiles of all of the children in Years 3-8 to ensure that they are given sufficient opportunities. By the end of year eight all children should have had significant opportunities to shine and have been rewarded suitably when they deserve it. Equally I keep an eye on the records of poor behaviour on a daily basis and act accordingly. My wife Sophie and I are boarding house parents. I am a member of SMT and work closely with the deputy head and report to the head. I give a termly review to the governors.

Why you might want to see me .........

To inform me of how pleased you are with a child in your form
To point out an opportunity which might be useful for a child in the school
To alert me to a problem a child in your care is having
If you are a tutor or form teacher you might want to see me about Learning4Life sessions
To let me know how things are going with your form or tutees
You should really copy me in to significant correspondence you are having with a parent
You might want me to accompany you in a meeting with a parent
To help you deal with any discipline issues

Miscellaneous

I coach sport, predominantly girls 1st XI hockey.
I teach RE and Geography
I run the Old Westbournians
I am the IAPS Pastoral Adviser
